Welcome to BrightLeaf, an AI-powered reading and pronunciation learning platform. These Terms of Service govern your use of BrightLeaf's website, mobile application, and related services.

1. About BrightLeaf

BrightLeaf ("we", "our", "us") is an independent educational technology platform based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

We build AI-powered learning tools that help students improve their reading fluency, pronunciation, and comprehension skills.

2. Eligibility

You may use BrightLeaf if:

  • You are 18 years or older, or have permission from a parent, guardian, or school.
  • You have authority to agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself or your organization.
  • You comply with all applicable laws and educational regulations.

3. Accounts and Access

  • Schools, tutors, and parents receive account credentials to access their dashboards.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • Notify BrightLeaf immediately at ceo@brighttleaf.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload, post, or share content that is illegal, harmful, or infringing on others' rights.
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute any part of the platform.
  • Misuse student data or use the system for non-educational purposes.
  • Attempt unauthorized access to BrightLeaf's systems or servers.

Violation of these conditions may lead to suspension or termination of access.

5. Student & School Data

  • Schools own the student data they create or upload.
  • BrightLeaf processes and stores that data solely to provide educational feedback and analytics.
  • BrightLeaf's Privacy Policy governs how data is collected, used, and secured.
  • Schools confirm that parental consent has been obtained for minors under 18.

6. Payments and Subscriptions

  • Pricing is displayed on our Pricing page.
  • Individual users can choose monthly, half-yearly, or annual plans.
  • Schools are billed annually per student.
  • Payments are handled securely via trusted payment gateways.
  • All sales are final and non-refundable, except where required by law.
  • Subscriptions auto-expire at the end of the paid period unless renewed.

7. Intellectual Property

  • All intellectual property, software, algorithms, and designs on BrightLeaf belong to BrightLeaf Learning Technologies.
  • You may not copy, modify, or reproduce any part of the platform.
  • Schools and teachers retain ownership of their uploaded materials and lesson content.

8. AI Assessment Disclaimer

Important: BrightLeaf uses AI to provide pronunciation scoring and reading analysis.

  • While our technology is highly accurate, AI results may occasionally contain errors.
  • These results are designed for learning support only and not for official grading or certification.

9. Service Availability

We aim for reliable service availability. However, BrightLeaf is not responsible for interruptions caused by:

  • Internet connectivity or user device issues
  • External cloud service downtime (e.g., Azure)
  • Scheduled maintenance or updates
  • Events beyond our control (natural disasters, outages, etc.)

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent allowed by law:

  • BrightLeaf will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of our Services.
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the subscription fee paid during the previous 12 months.

11. Termination

BrightLeaf reserves the right to suspend or terminate access if:

  • You violate these Terms,
  • Misuse the platform, or
  • Fail to pay subscription fees.

You may stop using the platform at any time by deleting your account or requesting account closure via email.

12. Third-Party Services

BrightLeaf integrates with trusted services such as:

  • Microsoft Azure Speech API for AI pronunciation analysis
  • Secure payment gateways for transactions

We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their actions or data handling. We ensure all partners maintain privacy and security standards.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in laws or business practices.

When updated, we will:

  • Post the revised version on our website with a new "Last Updated" date
  • Continued use of BrightLeaf means you accept the updated Terms

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India.

Any disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of Tamil Nadu, India.
